Welcome to Year 4’s Home Learning Task Page…
Merry Christmas Year 4!
All the adults in Year 4 would like to wish you a wonderful Christmas holidays.
There will be no spellings or maths homework over the holidays!
Please remember to keep up your reading and record all of your reads in your reading record book. For those of you that haven’t had a chance yet, please also turn in your Land of Fire and Ice Teams assignment.
We have had a fantastic half term and you have all amazed us with your fantastic knowledge of Iceland. Everyone has created a wonderful travel brochure all about the Land of Fire and Ice and we will be proud to show these off on the front page of the blog on Friday.
We would also like to say a huge well done for the fantastic Icelandic recipes you have shared with us as your project home learning. The adults were very sad we couldn’t try your magnificent creations this year!!
We have uploaded everyone’s recipes here for you to have a look. Be careful, they will make you very hungry!
Well done Year 4! We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

There are 3 activities in this new document, including answers. The activities get harder as you go through. This is represented by the stars at the bottom of the page with 1 star being the easier challenge.

Thank you to those parents who highlighted this issue to us. We really appreciate it.

Year 4 project home learning

Hello trainee agents,
We have received our final mission from Agent Houghton this week. This mission will be for you to complete at home. Agent Houghton heard we have been watching Spy Fox. He thought it was brilliant but he was very jealous of Spy Fox’s car. He has asked if you could design one for him!
Please produce a blueprint of your design so that he can ask his tech team to create it.
Here is a link to the video of Spy Fox for you to remind yourself about what the car looks like.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghr1YI2nH5w
Have a look at some of the features of Spy Fox’s car and think about which features Agent Houghton would like. You can also add some of your own ideas, of course. Be as creative as you can.
Please make sure it is labelled with all its features and presented neatly and is on one piece of A4 paper.
Agent Houghton has asked that these are brought into school on a piece of paper on Monday 19th October 2020.

Have a fantastic weekend Year 4!
This week:
Homework set: 25th September
Homework due: 1st October
Hello children and parents of Year 4,
We have been so impressed with all the children since we have started the new year. Not only are all the children being super respectful of the new school rules, they are producing some truly excellent work in class! Well done everyone!
The homework will be uploaded every Friday night on the blog. All children have a yellow homework book to complete it in.
Please can we ask that everyone is reading at least three times a week to count towards their reading stars. We would also love it if one read a week as part of their homework could be completed on Bug Club. Usernames and passwords have been stuck in the front of everyone’s reading records.
There will also be spelling practice and a maths task every week. These maths tasks will be either playing an online game to improve knowledge, or questions to be completed in the books.
Spellings to practise this week (please make sure you know the meanings too):
We will also be learning these in school this week, ready for dictation at the end of the week. As always, there will be house points for each correct spelling so the more practice the better!
- there
- their
- they’re
- to
- two
- too
Ways to practise could include any of the following:
- Rainbow write each word in different colours
- Make a poster illustrating each word
- Draw around each word and notice the shape the letters make
- Put the words into sentences
- Do look, cover, write and check
Can you think of any other ideas?
Maths
Please play this online game for at least 20 minutes. It will really help you with your maths next week. Parents, please can you record that this has been completed in the children’s homework books. Please see the instructions below:
https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button
Please select number bonds and have a go at number bonds to 100. We have been doing this in class and confidence has really grown – so please keep practising!
I would just like to take this opportunity to say thank you for all your support and we are really enjoying seeing all the smiley faces back in school.
Happy Friday Year 4!
